The first official airmail flight in the United States with pilot Earle Lewis Ovington in a Bleriot XI airplane, receiving a bag of mail from U.S. Postmaster General Frank Harris Hitchcock as New York City Postmaster Edward M. Morgan, (far left) watches. The event took place at the Nassau Boulevard Aerodrome International Aviation Meet in Garden City on Long Island.
